If you have been looking for Sector - Tech funds, a place to start could be Franklin DynaTech A (FKDNX).if something is low enough, even if I don't have a plan, I will grab it and stick it in the cabinet as eventually I will have a need. Someone who does 500 htv projects a year is not likely to like anything that doesn't behave just like their standard choice, but if you do 5 a year, you are more open. Price is linked to brand loyalty which is often tied to what you do the most. I've had no issue with smaller stores, other than slower shipping than mass retailers. blades, I have a band preference for certain material, but not for others so 15cents-$4 each. printable heat transfer, I only like one brand so $1, but printable standard I am less picky about so 25cents a sheet. I also work with shrink sheets a lot, but I only like 2 brands, thus 30cents a sheet. Acrylic blanks, I go for off season shapes so 50cents each. The bases, I pick up off season or warehouse lights and use their base rather than ones sold as crafting supplies because cheaper, so $2 each. If cricut has a sale near that price point, I'll buy, if not, I will buy a knockoff. But like glow in the dark, chalkboard or something special, I will pay a little more. for a project, I may need green, but it is rare that I need a specific shade of green, so I am cheap, 20 cents a foot. I don't avoid cricut, if it is cheap enough, or special enough, I'll buy. my last htv purchase was 50cents a foot, my last vinyl purchase was free (amazon, coupon on lightning deal). I stocked up at the time, and I still have a bunch, but they never have it that low anymore. Craftecorner used to sell 8 packs of oracal 651 for $1 and 25 packs for $3. Plus Siser you can use coupons on, unlike Cricut materials. Michael's also carries Siser Easyweed in stores and puts it on sale pretty regularly - when it's $10 for a roll that works out to be a good price and is worth grabbing. But you'll get better prices shopping online from crafting retailers like 143vinyl, Expressions Vinyl, etc. It's not bad and if it's what you can get easily, by all means, go for it. On sale you're about approaching the prices of other brands, but the quality still isn't as good and it can be a lot more finicky to work with. In contrast, Cricut adhesive vinyl, when not on sale, runs about $2/ft and HTV about $6/ft. You can knock costs down further by buying rolls of the stuff you use the most. That's for basic stuff, not fancy things like glitter, holographic, etc, and is non-bulk pricing (purchasing single 12x12 sheets). When buying those brands it's pretty easy to get costs down to about $.60-.70/ft for regular adhesive vinyl, and around $3/ft for HTV. The first two make both adhesive vinyl and heat transfer vinyl Oracal makes just adhesive. Other brands are Starcraft, Siser, and Oracal. Cricut materials tend to be "meh" in terms of both price and quality, but it's the most easily accessible in stores so that's why people buy it.
